The useful questions, answered simply.
Here's what to expect from the current Book Menu beta.
How are the recommendations personalised?
We look for patterns in why books work for you — not just genre or star ratings — and compare those preferences with detailed information about potential books.
How many recommendations do I get?
Three at a time. Each comes with a clear explanation of why we chose it and anything worth knowing before you start.
Do I need an account before I start?
No. Start with the reading survey first. Afterward, you can create an account using the same email so your Reading Profile and recommendations stay connected.
What is the difference between my Reading Profile and what I want right now?
Your Reading Profile is the slower-moving picture of what tends to work for you. What you want right now is temporary — your mood, current interests and practical preferences for the next book.
What happens after I read a recommendation?
Tell us whether you started it, finished it and how it went. If that teaches us something meaningful about your taste, your Reading Profile can update and you can choose to refresh your recommendations.
What if I have already read one of the recommendations?
Tell us on the recommendation card. Your reaction is still useful, and it helps us avoid treating that book as an unread option in future sets.
Is this just an AI book list?
No. AI can help with parts of the analysis, but recommendations are produced through a structured system built around your Reading Profile, detailed book information, explicit recommendation rules and your feedback over time.
How is my information used?
Your survey answers, reading history and feedback are used to build and improve your personal Reading Profile and recommendations. Written notes are kept private and are not used for publisher analytics or model training.
Is the beta free?
Yes. The current private beta is free while we test recommendation quality and the overall reading experience.
